I live the traditional mom life. I take care of the kids (and husband I’d say, but he would probably tell you otherwise), I go to work and try my best to keep up with all the housework. The day to day can get to be too much, especially with my anxiety. Besides running to press reset on my life, I enjoy hanging with my friends. I have different types of friends (I mean balance) and I don’t know what I’d do without any of them.
Last week I had a shopping day with 2 of these special people, a coworker from school and a coworker from the restaurant. Both are much more than coworkers! I love each of them like family! We all had the day off, so we spent it doing some Christmas shopping. We shopped for 12 hours! My one friend is a COMPLETE shopaholic! It was a long day, but one that we all needed! Our conversations covered everything imaginable (nothing is off limits with this crew)! The highlight of the day was when we finally stopped to eat before heading home. It was one of those times that you laugh so hard you can’t breathe, talk, and are left with a sore tummy!
I cherish these days! Don’t feel guilty about enjoying yourself because you temporarily step out of your traditional mom role. You are a better mommy when you take the time to have those belly laughs with people that get you (faults and all)! Not only did I get a start to my Christmas shopping, but I felt way more blessed for having these 2 humans in my life to remind me I am more than a wife and mom!
