I am one of those weird people that took until age 37 to have my first ever full body massage. When better to do it than on my weekend girls trip with Ruth. So, when we first arrived to our weekend getaway, we ate lunch and then headed over to get our massages. I was nervous about this because after all it was my first time. Since Ruth is somewhat of a regular at getting these full body massages, I thought I’d pick her brains about what to expect at lunch. Here was her advice:
- Be honest in the questions they ask you, so they work the best spots.
- Take off your underwear and bra.
- Try your best to completely relax.
Easy enough right? Well as soon as my masseuse walked in I couldn’t make eye contact with him because all I could picture was Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber (his twin). The haircut he was sporting was spot on! I am immature like that, so ever since I saw what he looked like, I couldn’t take anything seriously. This was one of those times when wearing the masks was not such a bad thing (I really did not want to hurt his feelings)! Okay, so after our questionnaire time he told me to get however I felt more comfortable. I panicked and once he left the room I just could not get out of my bra (sports bra mind you) and underwear. I felt like during the massage I was somewhat able to relax, but him wearing his mask and breathing heavily right next to me made it all quite awkward. When it was over he told me to make sure I stretched my legs well because my leg muscles were tight (most likely from running).
I was done a few minutes earlier than Ruth, so after I finished, I got dressed and hung out in her car until she came out. When she came out she asked how it went. I told her what he looked like and how I kept my bra and underwear on, and she couldn’t stop laughing! She was like I knew you would do that! She also rubbed it in my face that she got one hell of a butt massage but said that was most likely because she didn’t have her underwear on. Stay tuned because one of her Christmas gifts to me was for a full body massage again. This time it’s a little closer to home. Fingers crossed it goes a bit smoother this time.
